- Can I change or cancel my plan?
- Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the billing portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access to paid features until then. Downgrades from Professional to Power Tools or to Free take effect at renewal.
- Is my Mellow Family record admissible in court?
- Mellow Family records are designed to satisfy the business-records hearsay exception under FRE 803(6) and equivalent state evidence rules. Every plan includes RFC 3161 timestamp responses and a SHA-256 hash chain. Paid plans add a custodian declaration for the full court record. Whether a specific record is admitted is a determination made by the court — we recommend consulting a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
- What happens to my messages if I cancel?
- Nothing — messages are stored in an append-only record and are never deleted, regardless of your subscription tier. Cancelling a paid plan removes access to paid features going forward but does not affect messages already sent or records already exported.
- Do both co-parents need an account?
- Yes. Both parties need a Mellow Family account and must be connected in a shared case. You invite your co-parent via a one-time link; they do not need to be on a paid plan — only the case owner's tier determines which paid features are available in that case.
- What is Vault file storage?
- Vault is your private, encrypted file storage within each case — for court documents, photos, receipts, and any other evidence you want to keep alongside your communication record. Power Tools includes 15 GB of Vault storage; Professional includes 50 GB. Files are private to you and are never shared with your co-parent unless you choose to.
- What is the Smart Personal Journal?
- The Smart Personal Journal (Professional plan) lets you write private, dated notes within each case — observations, events, or anything you want to document that did not happen over Mellow Family messaging. Journal entries are append-only, timestamped, and visible only to you. They are not shared with your co-parent.
- What is the attorney access portal?
- On the Professional plan, you can share read-only access to your case with your attorney, guardian ad litem, or mediator — without them needing a Mellow Family account. This feature is coming soon.
